SwimStars Celebrates the 15th Special Olympics
After being founded over five decades ago in 1968, the Special Olympics’ mission to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people, is as important now as it has ever been.
Discussing their reach across the globe, Special Olympics wrote, “Our 5 million Special Olympics athletes – ages 8 years old and up – come from more than 170 countries. We also have a Young Athletes program for children ages 2 to 7. At any age and in every country, our athletes are learning new skills, making new friends and gaining in fitness and confidence.”
This truly resonated with us at SwimStars and our vision to give all children the opportunity to learn and love swimming. In venues across the UK, we teach over 10,000 children to swim every week, each with their own individual strengths and struggles – But our goal isn’t to create 10,000 Olympic swimmers.
With small class sizes, supportive teachers and Becky Values Awards for behaviours such as Friendship, Kindness and Respect, our aim is to help each swimmer reach their full potential and enjoy their SwimStars journey.
