Ability Matrix

• Can your child maintain swimming without aids periodically for the duration of the 30 min lesson?
• Do they swim with their face in the water?
• Can your child kick in a streamline position for 5metres?

• Can your child swim 10metres on their front and back periodically for the duration of the 30 min lesson?
• Do they have an understanding of breaststroke and butterfly kick?
• Can they float unaided on their front and back?

• Can your child swim 25 metres using all four strokes periodically for the duration of the 30 min lesson?
• Can your child tread water for 30 seconds?
• Does your child have an understanding of sculling?

• Can your child swim 800metres using correct turns?
• Can your child swim 100metres using all four strokes?
• Does your child have knowledge of using correct starts and turns?

• Can your child swim 1500 metres using turns and one stroke?
• Does your child have knowledge of swimming an individual medley?

Your child must be 3 years old or older to start lessons

You should choose a Foundation group for your child

You should choose an Early Swimmer group for your child

You should choose an Advanced group for your child

You should choose an Improver group for your child

Within this group, swimmers will cover stages 4 and 5 of the ASA Learn to Swim Framework.
